Security Without Purity?
Consider 2 Timothy 2:19 "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity." Notice the two parts of this verse: (1) SECURITYThe Lord knoweth them that are His. (2) PURITYLet every one that nameth the Name of Christ depart from iniquity. Security and purity belong together and what God hath joined together let no man put asunder.
Hodges and Dillow teach that SECURITY can be divorced from PURITY (that you can have SECURITY without PURITY). That is, you can comfortably rest in the assurance that you are HIS and at the same time CONTINUE IN INIQUITY! Those who know they are saved also know that the God who saved them is HOLY and expects His children to walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing.
